Captain Stephen R. Toom
Captain Stephen Toom has been a Police Officer in the State of NH since June of 1995. He has been with the Milford Police Department since December of 1998. Captain Toom holds an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and graduated from the 107th NH Police Academy in 1995. Captain Toom has received training in First Line Supervision, Mid-Management, Field Training Coordinator, Internal Affairs Investigation and Executive Development at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. Captain Toom has also received training in Critical Incident Management, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Interviews & Interrogation, and numerous other schools through the NH Police Academy. Captain Toom has served as a patrol officer for eight years, after which he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004. After three years as a patrol Sergeant, he was promoted to his current rank of Operations Captain.
As Operations Captain, Captain Toom oversees the basic operation of the police department on a daily basis and answers directly to the Chief of Police. He is responsible for the Operations Budget, report approvals, day to day community policing, as well as performance evaluations and case management.
When Captain Toom is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife Robin and their two children. His hobbies are weight lifting, golfing, and watching the Boston Red Sox, and the New York Giants.
