Milford Police Department

The Milford Police Department is concerned with the safety and welfare of all citizens of Milford . In an effort to assure the safety of everyone living in our community we offer these tips and reminders:

 

Sexual Assault / Robbery Prevention: 

  • Avoid walking alone at night or in secluded areas
  • Always be aware of your surroundings
  • Always park and walk in well lit areas if possible
  • Avoid wearing expensive looking jewelry in public
  • When approaching your vehicle, have your keys ready
  • Always lock your car doors prior to starting it up
  • If you believe that you are being followed, walk to a store or public place and call the police immediately.
  • Report anything suspicious to the Milford Police

 

Burglary Prevention:

  • Keep doors, windows and garages closed and locked at all times
  • Keep scrubs and bushes around your house well trimmed
  • If traveling, use timers on lights and electrical appliances
  • Have Post Office hold your mail
  • Keep grass mowed and trash cans emptied
  • Use motion sensitive lights around the perimeter of your house
  • Consider adding additional dead bolts to exterior doors.
  • Form a neighborhood alliance with trusted neighbors to watch out for each other
  •  Report all suspicious activity to the police department immediately.
